SPUR's Land and Sea Cleanups

Some of the greatest features of our community are the number and quality of our open spaces.  We share a responsibility to care for and maintain them.

At SPUR’s twice-annual park and beach cleanup, hundreds of volunteers pick up trash and debris from more than 25 public spaces in Beverly, Lynn, Marblehead, Salem, and Swampscott in partnership with other community organizations.

Teams of volunteers meet with a team leader at a designated meeting spot to receive gloves and trash bags and then work together to remove the trash left behind or washed ashore.

Here are some of the locations from past cleanups:

  • Lynn: Lynn Common, Red Rock Park, Keaney Park & High Rock Park

  • Marblehead: Devereux/Riverhead Beaches, Gatchel Park, Goldwaithe & the Marblehead Rail Trail

  • Salem: Forest River Park, Winter Island, Salem Willows & Salem Commons

  • Swampscott: Phillips Beach, Ewing Woods, Philips Park, & Jackson Woods

These cleanups provide a wonderful opportunity for groups to volunteer together and make a positive impact.  If your scout troop, school group, workplace, or other group is interested in cleaning a site during one of our cleanups, please reach out to SPUR's Director of Volunteer Engagement, Bryan Lamoreau at blamoreau@spurnorthshore.org
